TOKYO, July 1 (Xinhua) -- Japanese household spending declined 1.9 percent in May, in price-adjusted real terms, from a year earlier, but the pace of decline slowed for the second successive month, government data showed Friday.
The 1.9 percent drop was slightly higher than median economists' forecasts for a 1.8 percent decline on year following a 3.0 percent drop logged in April.
On a seasonally adjusted basis, household spending in the recording period fell 0.3 percent from the previous month averaging 276,159 yen (about 3,429 U.S. dollars), the data showed.
